**📢 Important: stricter enforcement against Apify Store manipulation** Hey @everyone 👋 First, the most important thing: we know that 99% of you are building and earning on Apify Store honestly. You put real work into your Actors, you support your users, and you've earned your reviews and rankings fairly. We care deeply about this community, and everything in this announcement exists to protect your work and make sure Apify Store stays a place where honest effort wins. That said, we've recently seen a rise in attempts to manipulate Apify Store, and it's not fair to any of you who play by the rules. When someone buys fake reviews or inflates their numbers, they're not just breaking policy - they're stealing visibility, users, and revenue from developers who earned those things legitimately. So we're formally tightening enforcement, and we want to be transparent about exactly what that means. **What counts as manipulation:** - **Fake or purchased reviews and ratings** - whether you wrote them yourself, used other accounts, or bought them from a third-party service. - **Artificially inflated metrics** - fake users, fake runs, or any activity designed to make an Actor look more popular than it is. - **Bait-and-switch identity rewrites** - renaming or rewriting an Actor to take over the reputation, reviews, or search position another Actor built up unless recommended by the Apify team. - **Duplicating Actors across multiple accounts** - publishing the same or near-identical Actor under different accounts to multiply visibility. - **External promotional or payment links in your README** - links that send users outside Apify to pay, subscribe, or buy your product or service elsewhere. - **Extortionate, deliberately opaque or misleading, or intentionally incorrect pricing policies. - **Any violation of the terms and conditions used in any way to game the system** - if it's designed to cheat rankings, reviews, metrics, or the platform itself, it falls under this policy, even if it's not on this list. **The consequences:** a single confirmed violation can result in a permanent ban from the platform, removal of your Actors from Apify Store, and forfeiture of your payouts. Apify isn't obligated to give a warning or a second chance first. It doesn't matter how established your account is or how much your Actors earn - these rules apply to everyone. **Enforcement is already underway.** Apify has built an automated detection system that keeps getting better, and every community report is investigated internally. Cheating simply isn't worth the risk. If you're ever unsure whether something you're planning is allowed, just ask us first - here on Discord or at community@apify.com.
