Why is that bad if the actors are similar and if the actor they're promoting resolves the problem for the user?

promoting your own Actor on another developer’s issues page feels wrong. It’s like if you owned a shop, and a competitor walked in and started selling their products inside your store nobody would accept that dropping promotions in issue trackers YouTube comments, or under someones Facebook ad is not the right way to compete, even if your actor is better the issue tracker should stay focused on solving problems with that actor not on advertising

=> I don’t think it would be a fair comparison if the actor is operating normally. But if it’s broken and there’s an alternative, I don’t see anything wrong with that, users have free will anyway.. It would only be wrong if the actor isn’t broken or if the user is spamming, which is definitely unacceptable. I think there’s a fine line between advertising and genuinely offering an alternative that could save the day... That’s just my belief, anyway.

A more accurate analogy would be if someone is standing in the customer support line of a company to resolve an issue with their product, and you walk in handing out flyers for a competitor right in the middle of the line.😂

were supposed to be a community where we learn from each other and find solutions together not envy or undercut each other competition is fine

Anyway, if that's against T&C I believe Apify might simply block entering actors URLs that don't match the actor developer or something like that

but it should be healthy competition like two teams that respect each other and push each other to do better thats how we all rise

That's for sure, but there's a fine line where someone genially wants to offer an alternative and one is aggressively advertising. That's my point. Anyway, is there a broken actor so I can quickly develop & spam a solution 😆 Great conversation guys

Issues section, as name explains, is for reporting issues. As simple as that.

I have been on apify since past 2 years and and no one did such unethical practice, it is common sense, but some people never understand. There is no point in arguing with such people, requesting @Apify to implement anti spam measures to prevent this in future.

Insecurities aside, let the best win 🤞 I hope Apify deals with this, should't be complicated I believe..
