Announcement from Apify regarding the takedown of Apollo Actors Hey everyone, you might’ve noticed that we removed a bunch of Actors from the Store that targeted Apollo.io. Several months ago, Apollo started pressuring us legally to take those Actors down. We fought this hard since the beginning, because we invest a lot of effort into protecting our community from unfounded takedown requests. Over the years, our legal team has defended hundreds of takedowns. It is one of our strongest commitments to the growth and success of this community Unfortunately, in Apollo’s case, we had to make a tough, but necessary call. Apollo does not release any of its data publicly, and even though we don’t know the details of how the Apollo scrapers in Apify Store operate, we had to ultimately agree with Apollo that there’s simply no way they could’ve worked apart from scraping using Apollo accounts, which constitutes a breach of their terms. We’re building this platform for you, and your success is what matters to us the most, but helping our creator community sometimes means taking down Actors, so that we can protect the platform as a whole for everyone. Furthermore, we also have a responsibility towards our customers, so as a part of our discussions with Apollo, we agreed that Apollo will be allowed to operate an official Apollo Actor that will provide similar functionality, but using the official Apollo API. We’d much rather keep the community Actors, but it wasn’t possible anymore, as Apollo wasn't ready to grant access to their API to independent developers. You're welcome to use this Actor for any of your use cases. We wanted to share this with you openly, because you’re as much a part of our success, as we are of yours. We’re here to answer any questions.
