@Ella Is Apollo the thin end of the wedge? Love the platform, but it makes me a bit nervous about relying on things now, especially if things just get shut down with zero notice, at least with some heads up we can try and mitigate next time (although hopefully there won't be one!)

Thanks for your question @Andy Smith ! Starting a thread here in the hopes we can keep the #🗣general-chat available for other chatter besides just Apollo (although I totally get why this is such a big topic!).
As you can read in my #🌐apify-announcements message, this is far from our desired outcome from this situation with Apollo. I obviously can't go into detail, but of course we hope that this is a one-off situation.
Sorry for the massive inconvenience. A lot of people are going to be mad at us for a long time over this.
We remain as committed to the open web as ever, and honestly just trying to navigate the shifting sands along with everyone else. If only we had a 🔮 crystal ball to know how things are going to evolve in coming months/years... We will continue to support Actor developers and users the best we can, and we genuinely believe that this action was the best we could take under the circumstances.
Feel free to ask anything you want to but I can't say much more about the Apollo situation in case my words get used to inform other companies wanting to attack scraping in a similar way, sorry. I hope my sincerity comes across here. Thanks again for asking and engaging thoughtfully with the situation 🙏
